A lawyer meticulously reviewing his client's legal documents

Welcome to Sheikh Najam's legal services website. Sheikh is a UK-qualified lawyer who studied law at the University of Oxford and University College London (UCL). He is Member of the Notaries Society of England and Wales, and a full TEP Member of STEP (The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners), the highest level of membership awarded by the Society. Additionally, he is an RICS Accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator, bringing over 20 years of professional experience in advising businesses and individuals on a broad range of legal matters, including as a business lawyer, property lawyer, tax lawyer, and estate lawyer.

Sheikh is one of the select few leading lawyers in the City of London specialising in international civil and commercial law. He offers legal advisory services to UK-connected individuals—those with business interests, investments, or family in the UK. Furthermore, he collaborates with select solicitor firms as a consultant, advising their clients on international legal matters. His expertise spans across roles as a trust lawyer and in legal dispute resolution.

The primary areas of law Sheikh focuses on include business law, trusts and estates, financial crime, property and construction law, and civil/commercial dispute resolution. His comprehensive legal solutions address both UK and international/cross-border matters, including offshore trusts and cross-border taxation.

In addition to his legal advisory services, Sheikh is also a public notary providing international notarial services through his regulated notary practice, Staple Inn Notaries, also based in the City of London. However, this site primarily highlights his services in business law, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, apostille, and other legal advisory areas.

Sheikh also employs an OISC qualified immigration consultant who handles all immigration related matters including client visa, citizenship and passport applications.

Client meetings are held face-to-face at Sheikh's private offices in the Holborn district of the City of London. For convenience, telephone and virtual consultations over Zoom are also available.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Q. Are you a regulated UK lawyer?

A. Yes, I am a highly qualified and regulated UK lawyer, authorised to practise law anywhere in England and Wales, and to offer a wide range of legal services.  I choose to concentrate on civil/commercial law matters. I am a qualified Notary Public (England and Wales) and also a Member of CILEX (MCILEX). My regulatory information can be seen at my company website www.notaries.london â€‹

Q. Do you advise on criminal law matters?

A. The only criminal law cases I advise on are financial or white-collar crime cases, e.g. fraud, money laundering, embezzlement, insider trading, and crypto scams, etc. These matters are closely related to my commercial law work. Clients do require these services from time to time, and I have expertise of dealing with such matters.

Q. Why do you have two websites?

A. This website is dedicated to my legal services rather than notarial services. I manage this website myself, and here I post blogs/updates on recent developments in my practice and the legal world.
